Jorge Alfredo Ortega

December 10, 1998 - May 23, 2021

Jorge Alfredo Ortega, 22, of San Antonio, Texas. Cherished first born son of Jorge Ortega and Charmaine Chavez, adored eldest brother to Jesus F., Jose G. and Julian R. Ortega, beloved grandson of Bertha Bedolla and Raul Ortega, novio of Angelica Sanchez Hernandez, "Jorgie" was preceded in death by his grandparents Alfredo "Honey" and Mary Perez Chavez. Born December 10, 1998 in Chicago, IL, he was born into eternal life on May 23, 2021 at 09:44 am at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, as the result of a tragic accident. An Xbox enthusiast, his love of family and friends was well documented by all the photos he took. Called the "Selfie King" by his boss, his warm and generous smile will always be remembered, his laughter carried in the brass of the Banda and percussive drumbeat of the Tamborazo music he so enjoyed. He left this Earth doing one of the things he loved, and inspired by the generosity of his late Tia Charlene "Baby" Rassat, had signed up to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. In honor of Jorgie and Baby, please consider registering as an organ donor in your state. See more at www.organdonor.gov If you reside in TX, https://www.tosa1.org/ O mama I'm so sorry I had to go For the heartbreak Caused by my leaving. And it saddens me to know That you'll spend so much time grieving. I'll always be your first born son, the one who named you "mom" That fact will never change, No matter where I've gone. To my brothers- Stay strong and care for mom. Make her laugh, do silly things- Try to keep her calm. You'll miss me, but I know Each one of you will grow To be the kind of man that I'd be proud to call my bro. To those who loved me- don't lose faith, I'm just a thought away. I'll be there within you It's all going to be okay. It's fine to still refer to me in the present tense, I'll always be around you, Just in a different sense. Don't get stuck on my absence because my presence was a gift. Let my memory be a blessing That makes your spirits lift. Mama, you're the one who gave me life. You were there when I took my first breath and opened up my eyes. But I was present in that moment When you had to let me go. I was by your side, I thought that you should know. I put my hand upon your shoulder As you gave a little nod Kissed my cheek, And gave me back to God.
