Julia Castro

April 15, 1948 - December 26, 2021

Julia M Castro went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2021. Julia “Mona” was born in San Antonio Texas on April 14, 1948, to Juan and Julia Mata. Mom was a strong and beautiful woman who cared immensely for her family. We knew we could always go to her in our happiest of moments and are saddest of moments as well. She always knew what to say to encourage us in life. Sometimes it was hard love when she knew we needed it and sometimes it was the kindest gesture of love that pulled us through in tough times. Mom was the best at cooking the food (but don’t ask for the recipes, she guarded those well) that we enjoyed at family gatherings or a simple meal after a long day. She may have been restricted in her movements from a stroke she suffered a while back, but she did not let that stop her from giving orders when she was not able to get around much. Mom was a strong woman who knew pain and suffering but she never let that get in the way of how she lived her life. She lived life to the fullest even when she herself doubted it. Her pride would not let the pain of her body stop her from overcoming obstacles left from the Stroke. She lived her life her way and we will always, always love her in this life and the next life as well. LOVE YOU MOM ALWAYS AND FOREVER!! Madre - Sempre Querida. She is survived by her, Husband Francisco Sanchez of 34 years. Julia also leaves behind 7 children. They are Rosaisela Martinez and fiancé Ruben Mata, Jose Castro and wife Isabel, Sandra Castro, Cristina Caballero and husband Joe Anthony Caballero, Veronica Castro and husband Ruben Rodriguez, Maria Castro and fiancé Albert Leal, Marcos Castro, and her adoptive son (Grandson)Joel Anthony Barrera. Mom leaves behind 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Julia also is survived by her 2 sisters Reyes Mata Sevier and Josefa Gomez. Julia is preceded by her Great Granddaughter Danni’Lynn Rodriguez and Randy Martinez.
